Meet Jack Reilly, the newest member of the HH crew! He may be the youngest intstructor on our team, but he brings energy and passion to our weekly classes. Read more to learn about this favorite workouts, nutrition tips, and more!

Q: What does “living a healthy lifestyle” mean to you?

Living a healthy lifestyle is much more than eating healthy, it’s being physically active as much as I can.  Whether that’s taking a Health House class at 5:30am/pm or that’s taking the stairs when an elevator is an option.  Getting up and getting moving is the key.  Living a healthy lifestyle also means living life to the fullest, I’m currently a junior at KU and I’ve never felt better and been happier because of the diet and exercise choices I have made throughout the entire week.  Don’t forget Saturday and Sunday!!  Join me and live your best life!


Q: What made you get into fitness instructing? 

Sports were what made me get into fitness instructing.  I was a golfer and basketball player in high school and I worked with a personal trainer 3-4 times a week.  After about 5 years (starting in 8th grade) of training, I fell in love with working out and decided to go to KU and train group fitness at a gym in Lawrence instead of play college golf.  After 2 years of instructing in Lawrence, I joined Health House and have never been more in love with instructing!!

Q: Why do you love being apart of the Health House team?  

The Health House team talks the talk and walks the walk, that is why I love being apart of this team. Everyone on the team is so knowledgeable and loves what they do so much that the energy for fitness is contagious and makes working and taking classes at Health House the best part of my day.


Q: What is your favorite Health House class to teach? Rip and Row- Full Body.  If you have taken my class you know I love Squat to Arnold Press, Rower Sprints and ending with a Finisher like Star Jumps!  Full Body fitness is a sweat session like no other.

Q: What other workouts do you like to do outside of Health House?-  Outside of Health House, I workout 4-5 days a week that include barbell and dumbbell complexes.  

Monday- HH Leg Day+ Barbell Leg Day

Tuesday- HH Chest and Back + Barbell Chest, Back,

Wednesday- HH Bi’s and Tri’s +Back, Bicep, Tricep DB Circuit

Thursday- Shoulders and Legs Barbell Circuit

Friday/Weekend- Health House Workouts

Rowing is another big part of my workout schedule, I try to row 3,000 to 4,000 meters on my own everyday plus what we row in class.

Q: What is your go-to post workout meal and/or snack?  

Go to post workout snack is a Muscle Milk Knockout Chocolate protein shake and I switch off Grilled Chicken/Steak and broccoli every other day after I workout.  I also drink a pre and post workout shake I make that includes, BCAA, Glutamine, AAKG and the pre workout one includes pre-workout.

Q: What is your favorite source of protein?

My favorite source of protein is steak,  I usually have steak for lunch and dinner 3-4 times a week and on the other days I go with chicken.  Snacking on almonds during the day is also a way I keep my body supplied with enough protein.

Q: What is your best advice to people who want to live a healthier lifestyle, but don’t know where to start?  

My best advice is to start small and work up to a big change.  Take the stairs at work, cut out that late night snack and try to come to 3 Health House classes a week.
